The Battery Kids

The Battery Kids are a four-piece original rock band from South Australia. The Battery Kids consist of Shannon (vocal/guitar), Bowl (vocal, keys), Tom (bass) and Jonno (drums). The band formed in mid 2004 after the break-up of the popular punk/rock band Handfu, which Shannon had fronted as a singer and guitarist. Shannon formed a new band with Jonno and Bowl, who both studied music with him at TAFE. Bowl came into The Battery Kids from a band called wood=toast that he had fronted as a singer, keyboardist and guitarist. Jonno was the drummer from a band called Extol but also played guitar for a band called second sunset.

The Battery Kids were now a three piece but were missing a bass player. They wrote songs and rehearsed before going into industry studios to record their first demo CD, which contained tracks ‘Sing yourself to sleep’, ‘Flying at the light’ and ‘No such thing’.

After advertising for a bass player, the band found Tom Krieg. Tom studied Jazz at University, which was ideal because he was a music student like the other members. Tom played in various cover bands and original bands. Currently The Battery Kids have been writing and recording home demos in preparation for their debut EP.
