ARTIST'S STATEMENT
'It is often remarked upon that my work is extremely personal, stemming directly from interactions with friends and lovers. An unsolicited celebration, that is sometimes joyous and eagerly received, but occasionally invasive or unknown. By taking someone's special "things" or the special "things" I have shared and embodying in them in a work that does not always remain with me, am I plagerising their truths? Is a perversion into faux art-like experiences occurring?

This series from the Milking the Muse body of work is based on three months of email communications, an unsophisticated and naive analysis of human interaction, and the norms promoted by our society.   "I cannot know if it is sad, beautiful, compulsive, twee ...,but I feel no strangeness at the thought of fabricating you an insulating scarf from my hair".Anne Weckert, 2005
