ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Series of topographical depictions from the air. The unnatural sensation of flying in a huge piece of metal, and the beauty of natural landscape merging with the patterns of streetscape and agriculture.

BIO
Jacob Logos completed a Bachelor of Visual Communications at the University of South Australia in 2000. Co-founding WINTER* arts projects in 2000, Jacob has since participated in numerous group exhibitions, publications and live art demonstrations. In 2003 he established the delacatessen workhouse studio in Adelaide for writers, painters and designers. Jacob is currently working in conjunction with the Adelaide City Council on a public art project in Anster Street, Adelaide.

"There was no other way other than to follow, with faith, the life of an artist. I had an appreciation for illustration and thought comic books would be a lucrative avenue. I did some work when I was at school with some comic book artists who were doing pretty well in overseas markets. They were working from home, setting their own hours - I liked that. I went to the University of South Australia to study illustration and worked freelance for design places and absolutely hated the work straight away. I chose as many drawing and art subjects as possible and University benefited me in that way, my favourite subject being 'Performance in Visual Art'.

I sold some small drawings at an art auction for far more that I was getting at freelancing, and started doing larger format work. I painted for about a year after University and co-founded winter*, which was a very idealistic arts business founded on the philosophy of doing what we wanted and getting paid for it.

Commercial art is a cruel, ugly & horrible juxtaposition, winter*creative was doing monotonous work for clients with questionable morals and getting paid not nearly enough for it.   I was exhibiting work frequently, group shows and live art demonstrations, and winter* experimental magazine put out three SAYAB funded issues featuring around twenty local and interstate artists.

In 2002 we got rid of the unethical clients and I moved into Anster Street studio. delacatessen is the name of the studio and I have converted the old bank office into a nice little gallery / studio. The Adelaide City Council has commissioned a project in Anster Street itself which is underway. I am painting for exhibitions, prizes and for private commissions. Delacatessen is a workhouse for music, painting, writing and soon fashion and animation. Maybe I'll do a comic book." Jacob Logos, 2004

"sensible people get paid for playing, that is the art of life."   ALAN WATTS
