ARTIST'S STATEMENT
The title of this piece Filling the Gaps of Time seeks to encapsulate various memories and childhood experiences that occurred in a place, that many a child has had special moments – The family home. Each and every home holds a world of memories that remain with us for life; and like all memories we have, each can be suddenly recalled to our current thoughts by a simple random trigger. For me this trigger was a series of photographs set predominantly in my backyard which acted as stimulus for a number of random memories. As I began to meditate on the photographs my mind would be flooded with thoughts, images and associations which at times seemed completely unrelated to the photograph I was looking at.

BIO
I recently graduated from the South Australia School of Art and completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Specialisation) degree. At Art School I worked in several discipline areas including sculpture, painting, printmaking and drawing - my area of specialisation. My artwork is diverse and explores a number of artistic styles from realism to a more experimental approach. This manifests itself in the work ‘Filling the Gaps of Time’ which combines photographs, new media and elements of drawing. At the 2005 Visual Arts Graduation Show I received The Australian Decorative Fine Arts Society Award and The Ethel Barringer Memorial Prize. My artwork recently featured in the Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition. Currently I’m studying to become a Visual Arts High school teacher and working on portrait commissions.
