Carclew Youth Arts is a multi art-form organisation and we open up our doors to young artists needing space and equipment to explore their arts practice. Carclew is housed in a beautiful building in North Adelaide with stunning rooms, a band rehearsal room, art room, ballroom, board room and black and white dark room all available to you. We also run the Odeon Theatre, with a fully equipped theatre, rehearsal space and foyer gallery. So Carclew really does have amazing space for hire!
Carclew Youth Arts gives priority to youth arts and related activities, but the ballroom and grounds are also available for hire for eventsand functions.

Ballroom
Carclew’s Ballroom is a beautiful room overlooking the gardens on the ground floor. Featuring polished wooden floors and access to paved entertaining areas in the gardens, the ballroom is a beautiful location for events, seminars, conferences, meetings and functions. The room can be split in two with folding doors and has a small kitchen attached.
Rehearsal Room
$25 per 4 hour session (after hours) and $18.00 per 4 hour session (office hours).
What you'll get with your hire fee:
- 12 channel mixer
- Two 15" JBL speakers
You'll need to provide your own amps, microphones, microphone stands and drums.
Black & White Darkroom
Fully equipped for 35 mm black and white film processing and printing, all you need is your own paper.
What you'll get with your hire fee:
- Enlargers (Meopta Axomat 5) with timers, focus scopes, multigrade filters and easels up to 12x16 inch
- Print trays for up to 12x16 inch
- 8x10 inch Proof / Contact Sheet Easel
- A3 Lightbox
- Print dryer up to 12x16 inch paper (resin coated only)
- Film Drying Cabinet
- Ilford Film and Paper Chemistry included in hire charge
Boardroom
The boardroom seats up to 15 people around the large table. Overlooking the gardens, and dressed in the original décor of the building, the boardroom is a convenient, quiet and central location to conduct meetings with ample street parking on Jeffcott Street and Strangways Terrace.
Odeon Theatre
The Odeon Theatre is the only performing arts facility in South Australia dedicated to children and young people. We create unique opportunities for children and young people to participate as performers, technicians, theatre workers, artists and audience in a professional theatre environment.
