SA living artist’s publication - call for nominations

Each year Arts SA supports Wakefield Press to produce a high quality publication which profiles a South Australian visual artist.

The book is released each year at the launch of the SALA Festival.

For the first time, individuals and groups are invited to nominate artists to be considered as the subject of the 2009 publication.

The artist who is selected will be on the cusp of a national or international career and the release of the book is timed to coincide with a major national or international presentation of their work.

A South Australian arts writer will also be commissioned to research and write the accompanying text.

Many of the artists who have been featured in the past have now established successful careers.

Previous books are:
·   Annette Bezor, A Passionate Gaze, by Richard Grayson, released in 2000
·       Kathleen Petyarre, Genius of Place, by Christine Nichols and Ian North, released in 2001
·       Nick Mount, Incandescence, by Margot Osborne, released in 2002
·       Ian Abdulla, Elvis has Entered the Building, by Stephen Fox and Janet Maughan, released in 2003
·       Deborah Paauwe, Beautiful Games, by Wendy Walker, released in 2004
