Living Books need your help!

The Office for Volunteers, State Library of South Australia and Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts have joined together in presenting Living Books to showcase and celebrate volunteering. Staged in the historic Mortlock Chamber of the State Library of SA from 1 March until 9 March 2008, 10 am - 1 pm daily, Living Books will be just like a normal library, except the books are human beings! All Living Books are volunteering their time to share their special stories and provide this unique experience.

To maintain the volunteering theme throughout the event we are looking for volunteers to reinforce the library volunteers and assist in the running of the Living Library. Particularly on the weekends of 1-2 March and 8-9 March.

Volunteers will be involved in:
Directing books and readers to the event
Assisting with registration of readers and helping them choose books
Meeting and greeting books,
Introducing books and readers and escorting them to their cubicle, managing reading times and assisting them enjoy this unique experience
Volunteers will also be needed for the Living Books launch event on Friday 29 February. The Living Books launch will be followed by the free Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts opening event “Ignition” on North Terrace.

Volunteers will need to be friendly and confident, able to communicate effectively and enjoy meeting people.
