Carclew's Arts and Education Program provides a vibrant program of quality arts and education experiences that foster and develop skills and knowledge for arts professionals, educators, schools and their communities.

Carclew's Arts and Education Program is based at the Odeon Theatre in Norwood, but while many of the projects are managed from there, Arts and Education is a priority across all Carclew program areas.
At the heart of Arts and Education is Playfull – Live Performance and Workshops for Schools. Since its inception in 2000, Playfull has focused on and supported companies and artists developing quality-accredited live performance for schools audiences. The 2009 program includes both performances and workshops for students K–Yr 13 and is presented in a colourful, larger and easy to follow format.
As well as Playfull, the Arts and Education Program also delivers Artists in Schools, CARGO – An Artists in Schools Initiative and ARTS BLAST (in partnership with Carclew's Workshop Program). This broad range of arts opportunities for educators, schools, artists and communities will include: arts workshops; funding for school arts projects; professional development for educators and artists; as well as a range of special arts and education projects.
The Arts and Education Program also manages a comprehensive Artist Register including over 100 artists working in all genres. These artists are experienced in working with students of all ages and can either run one-off workshops or more intensive programs with schools. The Arts and Education team is passionate about supporting educators and artists to engage young people in quality arts experiences and resources like 'the ark' have been developed to assist in this process.
Developed in consultation with artists, educators, schools, arts organisations and companies, 'the ark' can assist in the delivery of lively and engaging arts and education processes. As well as a hard copy document, you can download useful templates to assist in the implementation of projects and activities by accessing 'the ark' on this website.
For the first time in 2008 the Education & Arts Ministers' Awards were managed by the Carclew Arts & Education Program and this will continue in 2009. Please go to the SAYAB website for more information at www.sayab.org.au
