Kildare College

Kildare College is a Catholic secondary school for girls Years 8-12, located at Holden Hill and with a role of approx. 530 students. The school is made up of a rich mix of cultural backgrounds with the community seeking to live out the message of Jesus Christ and the Gospels.

PROJECT: ‘Introduction to Dance’ - a dance project

Aims:
• To introduce the girls to an aspect of dance.
• To help to establish a positive attitude to dance.
• To explore a dance activity with Year 8 Drama classes.

Outcomes:
• Awareness of dance as an art activity.
• Awareness and experience with Dance as a physical activity requiring concentration.
• Development and awareness of their own bodies, physical space and their abilities and limitations.
• Development of confidence and ability to work with others.
• Increased awareness of space, time and movement.

Highlights:
• A performance in front of peers.
• The enormous development of self confidence and improved skills in flexibility, agility, mobility and ability to coordinate a sequence of activities
