Henley High School

PROJECT COODINATOR: Steve Oconnor and Ashleigh Noll
ARTIST: Joseph Gonzalaz
PROJECT: ‘Vision’ - an animation / music project
Aims:
• To encourage students to use new technologies in a productive and meaningful way by exploring a significant youth issue in a collaborative environment, across several school sites.
• Provide exemplars to the artistic community, and especially to schools that demonstrate student achievement, as well as to suggest ways in which other schools might become involved in these technologies in a reasonably affordable and practical way.
• To complete a 3D Studio Max animation collaboration between the two schools and Technology School of the Future (T.S.O.F).
The artist, Joseph Gonzalaz was the skills teacher for the software and the school students created the story. After many meetings we went with a MUSICION’S BAND concept that enabled each student to create a band member. We recorded the sound track at T.S.O.F.

Outcomes:
A piece of animation was created and presented at T.S.O.F. in 2003.
Through the process the students gained:
• Valuable skills, including storyboarding and timelines.
• Teamwork skills and an understanding of collaboration.
• A higher level of understanding of the software.

Highlight:
The evening at T.S.O.F in early February 2003 to showcase the animated outcome ‘Vision’.

10 students were involved in this animation project.
