Gogo Fish
Suitable for> Families
Synopsis> And now, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, gasteropods and trilobites, please put your flippers or feelers or whatever else you might be made up of together, and give a big Devonian period welcome to the one, the only, the Gogo Fish!
Gogo Fish recreates the world of the placoderms, evolutionary ancestors of humans that lived 375 million years ago in North Western Australia. Damon Lockwood combines comedy with natural science documentary, taking us on a palaeontologic adventure through the Devonian swamps of the Kimberley. Moving back through the ages using a time-travelling fish club (the harder you hit, the further you go), we arrive at an evolutionary turning point: swamp fish are developing the bone structures of arms and legs. Will the placoderms realise that to be a 'fish out of water' is progress?

Epic Battles and Tragic Romance
Synopsis> Steps is celebrating twenty years of creating cutting-edge performances with, by and for young people in 2009. To kick the celebrations off early, Steps is holding auditions this November for the major season of Epic Battles Tragic Romance in April 2009.
Epic Battles and Tragic Romance will feature two 30-minute performances featuring fourteen young men and fourteen young women in two separate works:
Once Upon A Time in the West, a new and radically different take on the Boys Can Dance (BCD) project using the ‘spaghetti westerns’ of Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone as crucial references to interrogate contemporary masculinity with explosive action, playful irony, wry comedy and tough sincerity.
Heroine, a long awaited counterpoint to the BCD phenomenon, is an innovative dance work by and for young female Steps dancers exploring contrasting references and concepts of female heroism. These references will range from the tragic romances of literature and the traditional dance cannon to alternative visions of female narratives such as Chinese Communist ballets The Red Detachment of Women and cyberpunk femme protagonists to the everyday examples of heroine’s in the lives of the dancers.
This is one show you don’t want to miss out on so call Steps or check out the website for audition dates and locations.
