CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Punks
It’s a bloody riot!

On 30 November 1979 a battle took place in the unbalanced war between the Queensland police and young Brisbane punks.  In this city, more than anywhere else in Australia, the punk scene had a sharp political edge.  It was a finger in the face of a repressive State Government and their chief weapon, the highly politicised police force.

This new development revisits a very different Queensland from the one we know now.  Actors aged between 18 and 26 will have the opportunity to work with Backbone Youth Arts’ creative team of Fraser Corfield and Andrew Cory and award winning playwright Sven Swenson to develop the script.  It will be loud.  It will be rude.  It will not make any apologies.  Don’t miss out!

Ages: 18-26 years
Auditions:     Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 March
Registration: Email CV and headshot to info@backbone.org.au, or  phone (07) 3210 2666

The Spotlight Season

The Café!
Physical comedy devised with Andrew Cory

Suit: 14-16 years

Ingredients: add one temperamental chef, a clumsy food waiter, a pompous head waiter, a crazy dishwasher and a few of the locals who come for the soup.  Stir vigorously, throw in a couple on a first date and spice with a tourist who does not speak the language. Put in oven and serve with a side order of giggles.

The Café will perform a school holiday season in the Sue Benner Theatre at Metro Arts.
