It is therefore fitting that Australian Theatre for Young People (atyp) start its 2008 performance season with a production by one of the great young writers of the last 15 years, Sarah Kane. In April, atyp will present Kane's play Phaedra's Love in a modern radical adaptation of a classic Greek tragedy, directed by one of Australia's leading theatre directors Kate Gaul. From the 1 - 12 April, this explosive example of expressionist theatre, written by an outstanding young writer and performed by an exciting young cast, will offer audiences a confronting, visceral and unforgettable experience. Our Autumn Holiday drama workshops season will run from the 14 - 24 April, inspiring young people to rise up and act with exciting workshops for everyone 3 - 18 years of age. In May we return as part of the Sydney Writers Festival School Days programme with Bookends, where from the 15 - 21 May novels for young people are transformed into inventive performance. atyp also continues it's work outside of Sydney with the On the Road programme which aims to improve access for all young Australians in remote and regional Australia, as we take our high quality workshops and performance activities to Tennant Creek, Palm Island, Kandos, Warren, Cobar and Injinoo. It has been a rather hectic start to 2008! For more information visit www.atyp.com.au or call us on (02) 9251 3900.
