MEMORIES

I stage managed my first show, at 14, at the Odeon Theatre. It was Mayfair Theatre Company’s A Little Night Music, directed by Peter Goers. We painted the stage a fluro green which took about a dozen coats over to return to black. The set was simple but outrageous. Miniature versions of old cars, a nude which went the full length of the stage and half the height, a false  proscenium arch with cherubs and a massive paper mache swan bed.

The first show I ever took my daughter to see was at the Odeon Theatre. It was back in 1989 and the show was Who's Beach is it Anyway (Kite Theatre - Come Out '89). She then moved on to doing drama workshops here with ex-Urban Myth AD, Rachel Patterson and later did her work experience here with Patch Theatre. A journey that continues with Matilda now training at Flinders Uni to be a Secondary Drama teacher - a journey that started at the Odeon all those years ago!

Leigh, Norwood

I remember performing at The Opening of The Odeon Theatre back in the 1980's in a company called The Rhythm Masters Breakdance Theatre. My back aches now thinking about all the popping, breaking and locking now that I am 46!!It was a fabulous Opening with many fantastic performances by local artists.
