Environment Youth Art Prize

 

Art that talks about sustainable living

The Environment Youth Art Prize invites visual artists aged between 15 and 30 years to creatively explore links between society and the environment, while promoting and recognising excellence in the visual arts.

Presented by the South Australian Museum in collaboration with Carclew Youth Arts and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, the 2007 Environment Youth Art Prize encouraged young artists to highlight the crucial issue of climate change and its impact on the environment.

The winners of the Environment Youth Art Prize were announced at an awards ceremony at the South Australian Museum on May 4, 2007, opened by Hon Gail Gago MLC, Minister for Environment and Conservation. 

Prizes were awarded to the following artists:  

Category B: 19 to 30 years

1st Prize: Claire Thompson-Richards Pollution Cosies. knitted sculpture,  $4000 prize

2nd Prize: Laura Wills The New Generation. pastel on paper, $2000 prize

3rd Prize: Fontaine Anderson Solar Power. ink drawing, $1000 prize. 

Category A: 15 to 18 years

1st Prize: Raphaela Rosella, Kirra. photograph, $1,500 prize

2nd Prize: James Packer, Evolution? acrylic painting, $1,000 prize

3rd Prize: Zoe Woods, The Last Polar Bears. acrylic painting, $500 prize
