Hiromi Tango Public Art Installation

Applications close 22 Feb 2010

Carclew Youth Arts is calling for applications from artists interested in working with Hiromi Tango.

APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATES

Hiromi Tango is a Japanese born public installation artist who has spent the last 3 years occupying shop windows, perspex boxes, galleries, malls, train stations and other public spaces in locations throughout the Asia-Pacific and the United States.

Her public installations thrive on collaborations between herself and her audience, investigating how, by intervening into public space, the artist can generate unexpected moments of intimacy.

Hiromi Tango will be in Adelaide between April 6-17, 2010. Five South Australian artists will be chosen to work with Tango to create a 12-day public installation. Artists will be paid an honorarium of $1,000 in consideration of the time involved.

This opportunity would be suitable for artists working in diverse artforms including the visual arts, installation, design, public art, fashion, and ritual arts, aged 26 years old or under.

Off The Couch

February - April, 2010

Off The Couch (OTC) is a music program created especially to provide industry exposure and experience for bands, musicians and budding event managers.

Bands have the opportunity to play in professional gigs in some of Adelaide’s hottest venues. Many well-known SA bands played their first public gigs at an OTC show. This is an invaluable opportunity for young bands to gain the exposure to propel them forward in the music industry.

The Off The Couch team will learn the tricks of the trade from music and events industry professionals in weekly training sessions. Here they will learn to program, promote and produce gigs and will assist with the event management of six Off The Couch live music shows.

OTC engages music lovers on many levels – as event coordinators, promoters, stage managers, musicians and audiences.

In 2010 there will be six Off The Couch live music events held February – April in various venues around Adelaide.
