Carclew Youth Arts Centre

WHAT IS AN ARTS ADMINISTRATION TRAINEESHIP?

Arts Administration Traineeships are part of the CareerStart SA Government Youth Traineeship Program.

The Government Youth Traineeship Program provides young South Australians with an opportunity to enter the South Australian public sector through on-the-job training and employment experience.

As this program is specifically designed for the public service, a department recognised as a State public sector agency must be the employer of trainees. Carclew Youth Arts is recognised as a State public sector agency (Department of Premier & Cabinet (Arts) and as such, is able to act as the Employer for ‘host worksites’. Host worksites can range from a Government Fnded Arts Organisation through to Local Government Cultural Development Programs.

Arts Administration Traineeships offer young people a 12 month employment contract (training wage) under a nationally recognised Certificate III (Business Administration) TAFE accredited certificate that is designed to accommodate the specific requirements of administrative duties within an arts related organisation.

Carclew Youth Arts is responsible for industrial relations matters, pays and contract administration and coordinating the Trainees off-the-job training and TAFE related study. CAN (Community Arts Network) is the Registered Training Organisation that provides a course specifically designed for Arts Administration Trainees in addition to the Certificate from TAFE.

There are limited positions available throughout any year and all positions are advertised on the South Australian Government Notice of Vacancies website.

If you would like to apply for an Arts Administration Traineeship there are two things that you can do:

  • Visit the South Australian Government Notice of Vacancies website at http://www.vacancies.sa.gov.au/asp/public/VacancySearch.aspx to see if there are any positions available.
  • Contact Carclew, Industry Development Program and request for your details to be placed on an Arts Administration Traineeship email alert list. By doing this you will receive an email alert to any positions that become available throughout the year.
