Arts Administration Traineeships

Carclew supports the employment of Arts Administration trainees in small to medium arts organizations through the Government Youth Traineeship Program. Very few opportunities exist to enter the industry for young artsworkers wanting a career in arts administration. The traineeship pathway is one way to give it a go and build a background of relevant work experience supported by a TAFE Certificate.

As part of a Certificate III Business, the trainees attend two off-the-job training weeks of workshops and presentations in Adelaide provided by the training team at the Community Arts Network SA. During these two weeks trainees speak with experienced arts administrators, undertake team building and networking activities and make a number of site visits to a variety of exciting small to large arts organizations in Adelaide. Trainees build their understanding of the arts sector and the range of employment that may be possible. Opportunities to work in arts administration are limited, but for those with passion, commitment and a willingness to work hard, it's an exciting and rewarding career.
