Banner ProjectThe Odeon Banner project is supported by the local council and provides opportunity for schools, community groups and individuals to display their visual artwork. Expressions are sought to submit ideas and participants to design and paint four banners that are displayed on the Odeon's Queen St. facade. In the lead up to Come Out 2005, students and staff from Gulfview Primary School worked with mural artist Fran Callen to design and paint four brilliant mural banners which now hang at the entrance to the Odeon Theatre. Fran Callen designed a process that informed the students and staff of the ARTSsmart objectives. The team created banner designs that reflect the three key objectives of; Engagement, Partnerships and Lifelong Learning. The banners will hang outside the Odeon for the rest of the year, so come along and see them! It is great to see our students creating beautiful things for our local theatre, and I was honoured to launch the artwork. The banners created by the students along with artist Fran Callen, feature important themes for Come Out 2005. I really commend everyone's effort, particularly the young students who are developing their creative skills. I encourage our local community to support for this ARTSsmart collaborative project. Come out and see the display. Vini Ciccarello MP, Member for Norwood Please note the banners will not be on display until further notice due to the facade of the theatre being painted. How to continue the Odeon Theatre's valued partnerships with local council and local schools as well as how to display and acknowledge young people's art on the facade of the theatre, are currently being reviewed. Keep your eyes on the Odeon Queen Street entrance for these exciting developments during 2007/08. ContactBob Jesser - Theatre Manager Carclew's Odeon Theatre |
